OUR JURORS, Kesra Hoffman and Wanda Taylor Remington:
Local artist Kesra Hoffman is a painter by trade, but much of her work begins by looking through a camera lens. As the daughter of well-known Frederick photographer Teke Hoffman, Kesra grew up surrounded by his images and others he admired, which helped form her perspective about what makes an image successful.
Kesra is a full-time artist, teaching private art lessons and working as an artist of NOMA gallery (on the corner of 5th and Market Streets in Frederick.) She is a member of the Valley Craft Network, offering work during their annual fall studio tour. You can see Kesra’s work by visiting her website, www.kesrahoffman.com.
Now in her 50th year as a local working artist, Wanda Taylor Remington continues to hone her craft as a painter, photographer and mixed media artist. When her French mother moved the family to Washington DC in the early 1950’s, ten-cent B/W film matinees playing at the long-departed Savoy Theater stirred 7-year-old Wanda's budding interest in image making. In the early 1970's, attending The Corcoran School of Art turned Wanda’s proclivity for painting and photography into a raison d'être. For over two decades, she has made her home and creative community in Frederick County Maryland.
Wanda was an early ten-year member of The Artist's Gallery, with regular interim exhibitions in tri-state venues both group and solo, with participation in Frederick County Public School's successful past program, Goal 1 Portfolio Reviews for high-school photography students. Three productive years were spent at NOMA Gallery.
Currently living in the city of Frederick, she creates with camera and various media formats, chronicling a visual diary of moments in time. Samples of Wanda’s photography can be seen at https://nomagalleryfrederick.com/wanda-taylor-remington/.

Works may be offered for sale, but not via our website.
